The signal system design work included the design
of the yard signal system based on entrance/exit
routing for the 80-car storage yard and maintenance
facility, two interlockings protecting grade
crossings with the Union Pacific Railroad and
highway street traffic, and the interface to
the Third Street Line. The project included microprocessor
based interlocking equipment, CRT workstations
utilizing graphical user interface (GUI) for
train control, a mosaic modelboard for indications,
interfaces to highway traffic signals, train
to wayside communications for control of selected
track switches, security systems, and traction
power control systems.
The communications design included telephone
systems, PA systems and LED sign systems throughout
the Operations Control Center, the Main and
Paint Shop buildings, and the outside yard storage
tracks.
