Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation District Replacement Of Mainline Catenary SystemOur firm provided detailed design and construction management services for this project. This work included incorporating GPS produced drawings into catenary layout plans, corrections to the combined ACAD files, design of new catenary profiles, new catenary support structures, assemblies, staging, and construction support.

The project was from milepost 75.4, Kensington Interlocking in Illinois to Milepost 0.00, South Bend Airport, a total of over 75 route miles. The existing catenary structures are two track steel portal frame structures, single track steel cantilever structures, wood pole cantilever structures and wood pole/steel beam structures.

The conceptual engineering study identified auto-tensioned and fixed termination sections of catenary for 75 route miles. Design of the 1500v DC system, based on the study, included simple catenary and single trolley wire in street running.

Construction technical support will be also included during the construction phase.
