Gannett Fleming Transit & Rail Systems was retained in 1998 to provide the preliminary and final design engineering for the 300-acre Intermodal site. The project included 100,000 LF of trackwork, 37 turnouts, two interlockings, and the relocation of 5 miles of Main Line track. The Intermodal Facility required 58 acres of paving, 17,000 LF of drainage pipe, three detention basins, 13,000 feet of crane pads, and the realignment of township roadways. The project included extensive Storm Water Management Design Reports and Traffic Impact Studies for regulatory approvals. Associated work performed included high mast and standard lighting design, utilities, yard air system, and power supply. All NPDES, E&S, Highway Occupancy Permits, and Land Development Permits were acquired as part of this project. The design and permits were finalized in 1999 with construction completed in the summer of 2000.
